It is the season of 寒露 (kanro), when the dew turns cold and heavy but has not yet become frost. At this Delphi cocktails, we celebrate autumn's beauty, maturity, and conclusion, with no Halloween candy in sight.

Chrysanthemums in imperial gold, rather than the funeral white of shirakiku, mark the turning of the cycle in our seasonal backdrop. We are not mournful, but we do indulge in mono no aware: the bittersweet knowledge that beauty begins to fade even as it reaches its peak.
Beyond the 51st-floor windows of the Andaz, the countryside turns gold. Farmers race the typhoons to bring in the rice, persimmons dry in the cool wind, and mikoshi are jostled through village streets to coax the gods into blessing the harvest.
October also opens the sake brewing season. Raise your urushi cup with us in a toast to fellow drinkers and artisans across Japan: 酒悦, may your time with fine drink be filled with delight.
