The People Behind Our Leadership and Collaborative Vision

Dan Slater

A Career Forged in Asian Markets

Academic & Linguistic Foundations

Dan's formidable professional experience is supported by a world-class education. He holds a degree in Oriental Studies (Chinese) from Oxford University and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. Furthermore, his fluency in Chinese, French, and German provides him with the linguistic tools to engage with complex global issues on a deeper level. This combination of academic rigor and practical skill underpins his respected leadership at The Delphi Network.

Dan Slater’s journey provides the analytical foundation of The Delphi Network. Before founding the network in 2013, he directed The Economist Group’s Corporate Network (ECN) in Tokyo. There, he skillfully guided senior executives through one of modern Japan's most critical periods. In the wake of the 3/11 tsunami, his leadership was instrumental in helping member companies make pivotal decisions about their future in the region. His work earned him an award for a program designed to empower Japanese staff within foreign firms.

This followed a distinguished 12-year period in China. As a foreign correspondent and later as deputy editor for FinanceAsia, Dan had a front-row seat to China’s explosive economic transformation. He documented the rise of the private sector and navigated its unique social and political atmosphere. This experience provided him with a profound understanding of regional dynamics, which in turn enriches the quality of Japan business intelligence offered by the network. His ability to contextualize Japan within the broader Asian landscape is a key differentiator.

Rosie Slater

Driving Growth and Global Expansion

From Journalism to Martial Arts

Rosie Slater co-founded The Delphi Network with her brother Dan, taking principal responsibility for its business development. Her strategic vision and execution were key to establishing the network's initial success and sterling reputation. In 2018, she expanded her regional expertise by joining IMA Asia in Singapore, a leading peer group forum for Asia-based CEOs. This role as Forum Director broadened her perspective on the challenges facing top executives across the continent.

Since April 2023, Rosie has been spearheading the network's global expansion from the UK. Her current focus is on leveraging powerful new economic agreements to create a bridge between Japanese and British businesses. By utilizing the UK’s entry into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the UK-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), she is building new avenues for international collaboration. This forward-looking strategy demonstrates a dynamic approach to leadership and growth.

Rosie’s diverse background contributes a unique dynamism to the Delphi Network founders' partnership. She began her career as a financial journalist in Hong Kong before moving into financial PR at Nomura. This experience gave her keen insight into market communication and corporate strategy. Her personal discipline is equally impressive; she is a 4th dan aikidoka and a former instructor at the renowned Yoshinkan Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo. In a completely different arena, she is now implementing a conservation program on her family’s 100-acre farm in Wales, showcasing a deep commitment to biodiversity and long-term stewardship.
